The Story Not Told
There has been an incredible outcry over President Obama’s statement concerning the damage done over the years in the name of Christ. To take the time to unpack the moral equivalency in that statement and what is shows concerning his worldview, while tempting, is not the big story of that National Prayer Breakfast. The big story, the one not many if any news organizations are talking about has to do with Daryl Waltrip and what he said.
Waltrip is a well known iconic Nascar figure from years of racing and in recent years, broadcasting. Waltrip spoke at this breakfast and with the President sitting there along with among others the Dalai Lama, he shared his coming to Christ as his Savior. In that setting here is some of what he spoke of;
"If you don't know Jesus Christ as your Lord and Savior, if you don't have a relationship, if He's not the Master of your life, if you've never gotten on your knees and asked Him to forgive you of your sins, or if you are just a pretty good guy or a pretty good gal, you're going to go to hell.”
With the courage of the greats from Gods Word this man spoke the truth that everyone needs to hear. It takes great faith and courage in Christ to speak that boldly on the biggest platform with the world watching but that is just what Waltrip did. And I find it incredibly encouraging and just like God to take a good ol southern boy from Nascar and put him before Kings to speak on behalf of the Lord Jesus Christ. I am sure Waltrip never imagined in his wildest dreams he would be in front of some of the most powerful people in the world with the opportunity to share Christ. But praise God he was and our brother was faithful.
I pray that we would have the boldness to speak the truth where the Lord has put us, knowing that to be faithful in the little things is to be given more responsibility and opportunity. You see it is the weak and foolish He uses to confound and bring down the strong and the wise of this world. Weak foolish people with unwavering faith and love for the Lord Jesus Christ, those are the people who He raises up to testify before the mighty and powerful of this world on His behalf. Which is incredibly exciting, as who knows who He might have you share Christ with in the coming days?
For His Glory,
