 Mike Rivers

  Lead Teaching Elder

Mike grew up going to church and attending Christian school but pursued more wordly things during his time in college.  Shortly after graduating, a five-year old invited him to church.  What impressed him the most was when he didn’t go to church the first time she asked him, she called him on it! He was so impressed at her boldness he needed to find out more and his life has never been the same.  One of Mike’s greatest passions is the Glory of God and he wants Jesus to be magnified in everything he does. Mike believes he is called to Pastoral ministry and to preach God’s word. Mike was appointed as an elder at Cornerstone in 2015.

Mike met his wife, Traci, through a blind date in 2005 and they married in 2007.  They have three handsome and rambunctious sons, Caleb, Aaron & Noah and they enjoy spending time together as a family.  They love camping and many other outdoor activities.

Chris Breeland

Chris met his wife, Heather, while singing in a barbershop quartet at a church function in Cayce, SC.  It was mutually love at first sight.  During their courtship, Chris came to Christ at a Billy Graham Crusade.  They were married in 1988.  In 1997 Chris graduated from Clemson University with a B.S. in Construction Management.  In 2006, they moved to Bluffton, SC with their 4-year old son, Chase, and baby girl, Cecilia.  They joined Community Bible Church of Beaufort where they began to grow deeper in their relationships with each other and Jesus.  While there, Chris and Heather began to better understand their calling to church and ministry.  After Chris was laid-off in 2007, the Breelands persevered through several years of spiritual and financial discipline, coming through it with a stronger family, marriage, and faith.  In 2011 they moved to Pawley’s Island and joined Cornerstone in 2012.   Chris now works full-time as Purchasing Manager for Beazer Homes in Myrtle Beach.

Heather is called to homeschool Chase and Cecilia.  The Breelands enjoy hosting the “Summer Sundays” gathering at their home, spending time together at the beach, fishing, boating, hanging out, and cheering for the Clemson Tigers.

Called to eldership in 2014, Chris fervently seeks to elevate the role of Christ in people’s lives, particularly calling men to biblical manhood, calling believers to faith-filled marriage, and all to the Gospel of Jesus Christ.

 Kevin Hill

Kevin is one of the elders and the youth pastor at Cornerstone Church. Jesus opened his eyes to the truth and he became a Christian when he was seven years old. Since then he has had the opportunity to be a part of many different ministries. God has given him a desire to make Jesus famous in the lives of his people in Myrtle Beach and among the nations. He has had the privilege of traveling to several different countries to spread the Gospel, including Nepal, Ukraine, Croatia, Guatemala, and Tanzania. Kevin has a deep passion to see the lives of young people (middle school and high school students) radically transformed by the power of Jesus.

Kevin is currently married to the most amazing woman of God/wife/mother/stay-at-home-mom/you name it, named Kelly. They have two beautiful girls named Olivia and Presley. He works full-time as the Community Relations Coordinator for a ministry called Ground Zero. Some of Kevin's favorite things to do would be geocaching, collecting Hot Wheels, and blowing things up.

  Jon Castro

  Worship Leader / Elder

Jon Castro is from Costa Rica. In 2005 he came to the United States to study the Bible. While in Bible College he met his now wife, Lavinia and married in 2009. Now he is pursuing MA in Christian Education at SBTS and hopes to teach and instruct pastors through a Seminary in his home country.

Jon is passionate to preach the truths of God's Word and His glorious Gospel through music.

Jon and Lavi have an adorable little daughter, Abielah.

Robert Capps

Robert grew up in a Mormon home. At age fifteen, he turned to drugs and alcohol and was consumed with that lifestyle for the next ten years. By God’s grace, he was saved from that way of life, and began to walk with Christ. The process of sanctification has been slow and continues to this day, but Jesus has been faithful to walk with him and to tear down idols in his life. He has been married to the love of his life, Anna, since 2008.
